Head of Logistics Unit

About the role

You manage our road and intermodal area with full P&L responsibility, develop strategic customer relationships (KAM) and build a high-performing team. You scale FTL and preferably Intermodal, improve quality and profitability and report directly to regional management.

Information about the transition phase: The role is initially fully remote until the hiring manager defines and opens the final office location in Germany. Thereafter, the role transitions to onsite mode (office + client meetings) at the chosen location.

Example cities (indicative, no fixed base): Berlin, Hamburg, Munich, Cologne, Frankfurt am Main, Düsseldorf, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Bremen.

Responsibilities

• P&L and branch management: Budget planning, commission margin, forecasts, profitability; direct reporting line to regional directorate/management.
• Business development: Acquisition and development of key customers; active sales support on key transactions.
• Team management and development: Recruitment, coaching (Junior → Mid/Senior), resource planning; clear target setting.
• Operational excellence: TMS-supported processes, on-time delivery, quality control; liaison with back office (invoicing/collection).
• Reporting and strategy: Regular performance reviews; implementation of a location roadmap.

Requirements

• 3-5+ years management experience in freight forwarding/logistics (Road/FTL; Intermodal welcome).
• Demonstrated responsibility for P&L, KPI management, contract and KAM competence.
• Fluent German; English min. B2.
• Working with clear performance indicators.

• Net Road Turnover: Junior €34,483-45,977; Mid €57,471-68,966; Senior €80,460-91,954.
• Intermodal net turnover: Junior €22,989-29,886; Mid €34,483-45,977; Senior €50,575-57,471.
